Following Anthony Davis' latest injury setback, The Athletic published an article examining the challenges he has faced during his tenure with the Dallas Mavericks.
The piece noted that Davis weighed in at 268 pounds (approximately 121.6 kilograms) when reporting to training camp before this season, 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms) heavier than last season. According to his own explanation, the reason he didn't want to enter preseason camp at his ideal weight was that "he would quickly shed 10 to 12 pounds once the season started."
Including a left calf strain at the end of last month, AD has now suffered three injuries in his nine months with the Mavericks: a groin strain, a detached retina, and a calf strain. Since joining the team, he has played in just 14 games while missing 26.
The Mavericks have managed just one win in his three games missed. Entering today's matchup against the Wizards, the Mavericks sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a dismal 2-7 record.
