Heat head coach's home burned down, but won't miss game

Release time: 2025-11-07 PE Score

According to ESPN, Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra's home was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning, but he will continue to coach the Heat against the Hornets in person.

The report stated that no one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Over 20 fire crews responded to the scene but were unable to save the property.

Spoelstra was reportedly on a flight returning with the team from Denver to Miami when the fire broke out. Upon arriving at the scene hours later, he paced around the property, helplessly covering his head as his home continued to burn.

Property records indicate Spoelstra purchased the five-bedroom residence in December 2023 and subsequently undertook extensive renovations.
