Game Overview

The host Blue Jays came out swinging in World Series G1 at Rogers Centre in Toronto today (25th). The Blue Jays had a 14-hit shutout with Barger and Kirk's two-run double, and eventually beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-4 to open the series. Even Shohei Ohtani's first career World Series hit could not save the game.

MATCH FACTS

In the top of the second inning, Hernández again played a key role against Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage, locking up a slider that went into the strike zone and sweeping the ball to the outfield for a game-tying single to help the Dodgers break the deadlock.

In the top of the third, Yesavage walked, Will Smith singled, and Betts came all the way home to add another run for the Dodgers.

In the bottom of the third, Guerrero Jr. hit his first career World Series hit, but the run was cut short in the bottom half of the inning when Bo Bichette doubled.

In the bottom of the fourth, Daulton Varsho caught a fastball right down the middle of the diamond and blasted it 423 feet to center field for a two-run shot to tie the game.

In the top of the fifth, Mason Fluharty K'd Shohei Ohtani! He then got a hit from Betts, but Freeman hit a deep fly ball for the out.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Blake Snell's stamina was obviously declining. He walked and was hit by a pitch, and he even threw a ground ball to Varsho, leaving the bases loaded with no outs. After the pitching change, the Blue Jays started the inning with Barger hitting a grand slam, and Kirk's two-run double added the icing on the cake, eventually the Blue Jays scored 9 runs in one inning, leading the Dodgers 11-2.

In the top of the 7th inning, Shohei Ohtani hit his first career World Series home run to help the Dodgers get two runs back, 4-11.

The Blue Jays ended the game with an 11-4 victory over the Dodgers, grabbing the first win of the series.
