The Toronto Blue Jays have made a surprising run to the World Series, and their bench coach Don Mattingly is making his 43-year, 5,231-game coaching debut. Mattingly was captain of the New York Yankees as a player, and then went on to play in the major leagues for the Yankees for 14 years in 1982, but didn't make the World Series during that time. After retiring from the Yankees, Dodgers and Mariners, Mattingly joined the Blue Jays coaching staff in 2023 and finally made his World Series debut this year.
