The Knicks played their first game of the season today, defeating the Knights 119-111. After the game, Karl-Anthony Towns revealed that he was playing with a muscle injury.

Towns said, "Yeah, I've been hurt lately and I haven't had a chance to practice or play in the last two preseason games, but I didn't want to let the fans down. A Grade 2 quad strain is no joke."

"But we took the win tonight and I'm glad the fans respected the effort I put in tonight and my teammates worked really hard. Thanks to everyone for supporting me and understanding the situation I was in."

For the game, Karl-Anthony Towns played 31 minutes and finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and two assists on 5-of-12 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
