The Phillies hosted the Mariners today, and the whole team was on fire to break the team record of 8 home runs in a single game, including two back to back in the bottom of the 7th inning. Edmundo Sosa had a triple, and the home run king, Schwarber, had a double in a single game with 4 hits, bringing his home run total to 56 for the season. It helped the Phillies beat the Mariners 11-1 to clinch second place in the NL playoffs without having to play in the first round. The first game of the playoffs will be played on October 4 at home against the winner of the first round.
