Kuban: Alliance intervention prevents me from vetoing Doncic's deal
Release time: 2025-09-22 PE Score

Recently, Mark Cuban revealed on his podcast that he had the opportunity to veto the Doncic trade, but the league intervened causing him to lose his voice.
Cuban said, "In my agreement, there was originally a clause that gave me the right to participate in all team meetings, all trade discussions and all decisions. But the NBA removed that clause. I got a letter from my attorney saying that the NBA league forced the deletion."
The league, however, gave a very different account, with a league official saying that the division of power between Cuban and the Maverick majority owners was at their discretion, not at the behest of the league, and that Cuban's reduced voice on the team was a result of their ownership agreement.
Cuban once said in an interview that he would rather divorce his wife than trade away Doncic. When asked about the seismic deal, he also confessed that he no longer has decision-making power.
