In an interview, Brownie James said that he can be a guard with and without the ball as long as he can strengthen his ball-handling ability.

"My focus in training this offseason has been to continue to strengthen my ball-handling ability, and all the elements of a ball-less offense will fall into place," Brownie said.

"I am always confident in my ball-handling and I understand my role to be able to play the No. 1 position when the team needs it."

"I think I'll be up to the demands because I really have no problem playing without the ball. So, spending more time working on the ball-handling offense over and over again will be a big benefit to my development."

In his first season in the NBA, Brownie averaged 2.3 points per game and shot just 31.3 percent from the field, but in the Developmental League, he turned in 21.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game on 44.3 percent shooting from the field and 38.0 percent from three.
