Spoelstra: no way to cut matches unless there's a new broadcast deal
Release time: 2025-11-20 PE Score

At today's pre-game press conference, Heat head coach Spoelstra stated that he also believes reducing the number of games is not feasible under the current agreement framework.
Spoelstra stated: "The idea of reducing the number of games is simply not feasible within the current agreement framework. Over the past two summers, Steve (Kerr), myself, and other colleagues have discussed this matter, but the situation remains unchanged. The only potential catalyst for change would be a new broadcast agreement where all parties agree to its terms, which could then stipulate reductions like cutting 10 games."
"But since no such new agreement exists, I must concur with Steve's assessment: no one will return money already collected just to reduce a few games. So in reality, there's currently no solution for excessive back-to-backs."
