Noa Dalzell said, "I wouldn't be surprised if Derrick White averages 25 points per game, especially with Jaylen Brown missing the first few games of the season. Obviously, with both scouts out, the team is missing a lot more than just scoring. Jaylen has a huge role on the defensive end, but the coaching staff should be able to make up for it by designing a new defensive system. This team can't afford to lose another key player, but it's not enough to feel desperate."

Derrick White posted a career-high scoring average last season, chipping in 16.4 points on 44.2 percent shooting from the field and 38.4 percent from 3-point range in nearly 34 minutes per game.
