The new NBA regular season is about to start, and first-round pick Cooper Flagg is likely to remain at point guard for the first game of the season.

In an interview, Maverick head coach Jason Kidd said, "We've been pleased with Cooper at point guard, so we'll see what happens."

With Kyrie Irving's ACL injury, the Lone Rangers are short-handed at the No. 1 spot, and Kidd is interested in experimenting with oversized lineups, and he sees Cooper Flagg's wide-open vision and calm demeanor as a potential solution. Although the team still has D'Angelo Russell as a full-time point guard, his limited defensive end cannot be fully trusted by the coaching staff.
