MLB: Five reasons why Ayton is the fastest-improving player this season
Release time: 2025-10-08 PE Score

Lakers Daily writes that Ayton is on pace to be the most improved player this season, and there are five reasons to support that judgment.
First: High statistical floor. Over the last seven seasons, only four players have averaged double-digit scoring and rebounding, and Ayton is one of them, with Vucevic, Gobert, and Giannis being the other three.
Second: The Lakers have a clear identity within the team. Before Ayton joined the Lakers, the center position was vacant, and now the competition for the position is not too fierce, all indications are that Ayton will be the starting center over Hayes.
Third: Ayton has proven he can play on a strong team; Ayton has helped the Suns reach the playoffs three times, and has been a key player on the team all of those times. His multiple seasons with 50-win teams have prepared him well.
Fourth: The ability to work with two great passers: Ayton's highlights with the Suns were thanks to CP3, and now with the Lakers, he'll be able to work with Doncic and LeBron, making it easier for him to get open both at the basket and in the mid-range.
Fifth: A renewed focus on defense - Ayton was criticized for his weak defensive impact, but he has shown renewed commitment to defense.
