Manny Machado hit a 2-run homer in the 5th inning against Japanese left-hander Shota Imaga to take the lead. The Padres pitching rotation was solid, with starter Dylan Cease pitching 3.2 scoreless innings, Adrian Morejon taking over for 2.1 innings to pick up the win, and Mason Miller striking out three consecutive batters to keep the Cubs off the board. The series finale will be played at Wrigley Field.
