Release time: 2025-09-30 PE Score

According to The Athletic, Austin Reaves said in an interview that he is not looking for a new contract with a ridiculously high salary, but wants the salary to match his effort.

A number of league sources believe that Austin Reaves next contract will be more than 35 million dollars a year, there are two teams (the Lakers are not among them) sources believe that his annual salary can even be more than 40 million. The Lakers could only offer him $53.8 million over four years this summer, a 40 percent increase in salary.

Speaking of the Lakers' offer of a contract extension, Austin Reaves said: "To this day, I think it's a lot of money for anybody. It's a lot more than what a lot of people would be able to get....... If you had told me when I was in school that I would be able to get that kind of money, there's no way I would have believed it."

"All I could say to Rob (Pelinka) and Jeanie (Buss) was thank you, but no. I told them what I thought. I thanked them for the opportunity and they were very kind to my family. But we didn't think it was the right amount at the time. But I'm not looking for a pie-in-the-sky number, I want to stay in L.A. I just want to get what I think I've worked hard enough for."
