Cuminga rejects Warriors' team option, wants Kings in trade impasse
Release time: 2025-09-17 PE Score
Jonathan Kuminga turned down a three-year, $75.2 million contract (with a team option for the third year) offered by the Braves. According to Tim McMahon, he's "bitter". The forward was "desperate" to play for the Kings and had "no interest" in returning to the Warriors. "The Kings promised Kouminga they would treat him as an All-Star forward and guarantee him high usage under head coach Doug Christie, the source said. That's right up Cuminga's alley." (via Dallas Basketball Diaries) But the Warriors have no interest in the King's offer in sign-and-trade talks. With just two weeks left in training camp, the Warriors have only nine of their 15-man roster set. Cuminga became the key domino that triggered the plan to follow.
