In the third-place game of the FIBA European Championships, Greece was nearly overturned by Finland, but finally won 92-89 to take the bronze medal of the tournament.

With 3:38 left in the fourth quarter, Greece led Finland by 17 points, 84-67, their biggest lead of the game. But then the Finns came back to beat Greece to the punch, going on a 22-6 run to get to within a point, before Jantunen missed a layup with four seconds left. Alphabet was fouled and made two free throws under pressure, and Greece's desperation three-point shot was off the mark.

In the game, Alphabet played nearly 31 minutes, cut down 30 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Markkanen was inaccurate, hitting only 6 of 16 shots for 19 points.
