Release time: 2025-09-11 PE Score

Anthony Rizzo, 36, announced today that he is retiring after a 14-year major league career that included four Gold Gloves, one Platinum Glove, one Silver Slugger, and most impressively, a World Series win for the Cubs in 2016. 2021 saw Rizzo come to the New York Yankees, where he did not receive a contract until the end of last year's season. Rizzo's 222 career touchdowns ranked No. 8 all-time, and he eventually suffered a concussion from a touchdown that affected his batting performance. Now the cancer fighter will return to Cubs Stadium on Saturday to retire as a Cub.
